Rigging-Busters provides millwright services and machinery installation for manufacturers across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Our millwright crews rig new or relocated machines into your plant, then set, level, align and anchor them to the OEM’s drawings, ready for your electricians and the OEM’s start-up technician.
We work for plant and maintenance managers, engineering teams, equipment dealers and integrators who need a millwright company that also handles the rigging: a single CNC machine in Etobicoke, a conveyor line in Brampton or a generator set on its pad in Vaughan.
- Industrial only: machine and production-line installation, with no household, office or retail work.
- One crew, no hand-offs: rig in, set in place, level, align and anchor.
- Quick replies: quotes within 2–4 business hours, and estimates are free.
- GTA coverage: Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Oakville and Durham Region.

How Our Millwright Crews Install Machinery in the GTA
Whether it is one machine or a full line, every installation follows the same seven steps:
- Job review: make, model and weight, the OEM’s installation manual and foundation drawing, and your target start-up date.
- Site visit when needed: the access route, door and ceiling clearances, the floor or pad and the exact footprint.
- Installation plan: rigging method, lifting points, levelling tolerances, crew size and shift pattern.
- Delivery and rig-in: we receive the machine or bring it from your old site, then roll, lift or jack it into the building.
- Set in place on the layout marks, with anchor bolts and base plates ready.
- Level, align and anchor to the OEM’s tolerances, re-checking as the machine settles.
- Handover: your licensed electricians connect power and the OEM technician commissions the machine.

Rig In and Set in Place
Floor capacity, door openings and ceiling height decide the method, so we check them before the machine arrives. Our crews roll machines in on skates and toe jacks, lift them with hydraulic gantries where there is no overhead crane, raise very heavy equipment in stages with jack-and-roll, and handle loading with heavy-capacity lift trucks. When a machine must go in through a roof opening or over an obstacle, a licensed crane partner makes the lift as part of our plan.
Levelling, Alignment and Anchoring
Tolerances come from the OEM’s manual, not from habit. Our millwrights level each machine with machinist levels and shims, align it to the equipment it couples or feeds, and set anchor bolts and base plates to the foundation drawing. Grout, new pads and pits are planned with your concrete contractor. Where the OEM calls for laser alignment, we schedule it and tell you up front who performs it.
Start-Up With Your OEM
A clean split of responsibilities keeps the start-up on schedule:
- Your team: lockout, utilities, a clear footprint and access route
- Your licensed electricians: disconnecting and connecting power
- Our millwrights: rigging in, setting, levelling, alignment and anchoring
- The OEM technician: commissioning and warranty sign-off
- Your integrator: robot programming and safety validation

Machines and Lines We Install Across the GTA
Toronto alone has almost 140,000 manufacturing employees in more than 5,000 establishments, with food and beverage, life sciences, automotive, aerospace and machinery makers among its key sectors (City of Toronto). Our millwrights install:
- CNC machining centres, lathes, grinders and other machine tools
- Stamping and forming presses, press brakes and coil lines
- Injection moulding machines with their robots and auxiliaries
- Conveyors, packaging lines and food processing lines
- Robot cells and automation equipment
- Generators, switchgear, UPS units and chillers, set in place on their pads
Industries We Serve in the GTA
Food and beverage processors, pharmaceutical and life-sciences manufacturers, plastics and auto-parts plants, aerospace and machinery makers, printers, and equipment dealers delivering new machines. Auto retooling reaches supplier plants too: Ford’s Oakville Assembly is moving to F-Series Super Duty production in 2026.
Injection Presses and Robot Cells
An injection press is set and levelled with its mould-handling side clear, then the dryers, chillers and conveyors are placed around it. Robot cells are set on their bases and levelled so fencing and fixtures line up. Your integrator handles programming and safety checks; we handle the iron.
Data Centre and Power Equipment: Set-in-Place Only
Data centre builds in the GTA bring heavy power and cooling equipment. At Microsoft’s Vaughan site, for example, equipment installation is expected to continue through early 2028 (Microsoft). We rig and set generators, switchgear and chillers on their pads; electricians and the OEM connect and commission them. We do not move servers or IT racks.
Airport work is bought through integrators: Toronto Pearson broke ground in May 2026 on a C$3 billion airside and baggage-system program. We can take on rigging and set-in-place scopes for an integrator on projects like it.

Millwright, Rigger or Machinery Mover: Which Do You Need?
- A millwright installs: sets, levels, aligns and anchors a machine so it runs to the OEM’s tolerances.
- A rigger lifts and moves heavy loads on site with skates, gantries, jack-and-roll or a crane. See industrial rigging services in Toronto.
- A machinery mover takes the machine from one address to another: rigging out, transport and permits. See machinery movers in Toronto.
Most installations need all three. Our crews cover the whole chain, so one quote covers the move-in, setting, levelling and anchoring, and you deal with one millwright contractor instead of three.
Machinery Installation Cost in Toronto: What Affects the Price
Millwright services are priced per job, once we have the machine details and, where needed, a site visit. In the GTA the main cost drivers are:
- How many machines, and how heavy: one press, or a line with conveyors and auxiliaries
- Installation tolerances in the OEM’s manual, and how long it takes to hold them
- Foundation work: anchors and base plates only, or grout, new pads or pits
- Access and method: docks, door widths, floor capacity, upper floors or roof openings
- Delivery logistics: oversize permits and routes that avoid the restricted expressways
- Site rules and timing: union or prequalified sites, shutdown windows, nights and weekends
A single quote that covers rigging in, setting, levelling and anchoring is the easiest to compare between millwright companies. For a rough range first, use the Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator.
Permits and Paperwork in Toronto, Mississauga and Peel
Delivering an Oversize Machine
On City of Toronto roads, a truck and load that reaches 2.59 m wide, 4.15 m high, 21.33 m long or 50 t needs a single-trip oversize load permit. Allow 7 to 10 business days; the route must be scouted 48 hours before the move, and oversize loads are barred from the Don Valley Parkway, Black Creek Drive, the Allen Expressway, the elevated Lake Shore Boulevard West and the Gardiner east of the Humber River.
In Mississauga, the City’s excess load moving permit takes at least 5 business days, or 14 for a superload of 120,000 kg or more. Regional roads in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon need a Peel Region excess load permit, and Highways 401, 427, 400 and 404 need an MTO permit. We arrange the permits and escorts for every delivery we handle.
On-Site Paperwork Before the Crew Starts
- WSIB clearance: installing machinery is construction work in Ontario, so the hiring company must get the contractor’s clearance certificate before work starts.
- Notice of Project: required when labour and materials exceed $50,000, or $250,000 for a project confined to a factory that manufactures or assembles automobiles. Parts suppliers fall under the $50,000 rule.
- Electrical: a licensed electrical contractor or your own staff does the electrical work (O. Reg. 570/05), under your lockout program.
- Union and prequalified sites: some GTA plants require union trades or contractor prequalification through platforms such as ISNetworld or Avetta. Tell us your site rules with the quote request and we confirm what applies.
Areas We Cover in the GTA

Millwright Services in Toronto: FAQ
A millwright company installs industrial machinery so it runs as designed: the crew rigs the machine into position, sets it on its footprint, then levels, aligns and anchors it to the manufacturer’s tolerances. Many millwright companies also relocate and reinstall equipment. Ours handles the rigging as well, so a GTA plant gets the move-in and the installation from one crew.
We start with the OEM’s manual and foundation drawing, check the access route and floor, and plan the rigging. On the day, the machine is rigged in, set on its marks, levelled, aligned and anchored. Your licensed electricians connect power and the OEM technician commissions it. Most single machines take one or two days on site; lines are planned shift by shift.
Millwright services are priced per job. The main factors are the number and weight of machines, the OEM’s levelling tolerances, foundation work, access into the building, delivery permits and whether the work runs on nights or weekends. For a rough range, try our Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator, then send the details for an exact quote.
Both. If the machine is coming from another plant, our crew rigs it out, transports it with the permits it needs and installs it at the new site. If it arrives new from the OEM or a dealer, we receive it and start from the rig-in. Moving machinery without installation? See our machinery movers in Toronto.
Yes. Installations in running GTA plants are usually scheduled into shutdown windows, nights or weekends so production keeps moving. We plan the sequence before the shutdown starts, bring the crew size the window needs and quote any shift premiums up front, so the line is set, levelled and ready for start-up when your people come back.
We set anchor bolts, base plates and shims to the OEM’s foundation drawing and torque them once the machine is level. Grout, new pads and pits are scoped at the site review and coordinated with your concrete contractor, with curing time built into the plan, so the machine is only set on a foundation that is ready for it.
Your licensed electricians or your own maintenance staff. In Ontario, electrical work done for hire needs a licensed electrical contractor under O. Reg. 570/05, and power is locked out under your plant’s program before work starts. Our millwrights handle the mechanical side and leave the machine ready for the electrical connection and the OEM’s start-up.
Installing machinery is construction work in Ontario, so the hiring company must get the contractor’s WSIB clearance before work starts. A Notice of Project is required when labour and materials exceed $50,000, or $250,000 for a project confined to an automobile factory. Tell us your site’s requirements, including union or prequalification rules, and we confirm them in the quote.
Only for an oversize load. On City roads, a truck and load reaching 2.59 m wide, 4.15 m high, 21.33 m long or 50 t needs the City’s single-trip oversize load permit; allow 7 to 10 business days. Oversize loads are barred from the Don Valley Parkway, Black Creek Drive, the Allen and the Gardiner east of the Humber River, so the route is planned around them.
Yes. Our millwright crews work across the GTA, including Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan and Concord, Markham, Oakville and Durham Region. Peel Region issues excess load permits for its own roads, and Mississauga needs at least 5 business days for its permit. For Hamilton and Niagara, see our machinery installation in Hamilton page.
