Industrial rigging: lathe rigged with lifting slings in a workshop

Rigging-Busters is an industrial rigging company in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Our riggers and rigging contractors lift, skid, move and set heavy machinery for food and pharmaceutical plants, aerospace and auto-parts shops, printers and distribution centres across Mississauga, Brampton and the rest of Peel Region.

We focus on industrial rigging services and heavy equipment handling: a press shifted two bays over, a packaging line taken out of one Mississauga unit and rebuilt in another, or a machine rigged off a truck at your dock and levelled on its pads. Whether you need rigging only or a full move, one crew handles it, from rigging and transport to set-in-place, levelling and millwright installation.

  • Industrial work only: machinery, production lines and plant equipment. We do not move homes or offices.
  • One crew, start to finish: rigging, transport, set-in-place, levelling and millwright installation.
  • Free estimates, fast replies: quotes within 2–4 business hours.
  • Local coverage: every Mississauga employment area, from Meadowvale Corporate Centre and Western Business Park to the Gateway and Northeast areas near the airport, plus Peel, Halton and Etobicoke (see the service area).

How We Rig and Lift Machinery in Mississauga

Our rigging service professionals treat every lift as a small project with its own plan. In Mississauga that usually means working inside a building that keeps running around us: a food plant between sanitation runs, a pharmaceutical suite with gowning rules, or a distribution centre where the forklifts never stop. A typical job runs in seven steps:

  1. Details and photos. You send the make, model and weight, photos of the machine and its nameplate, and both addresses. A floor plan helps when space is tight.
  2. Site walk. A rigger checks door and dock sizes, ceiling height, floor capacity, overhead conveyors, sprinkler lines and racking, and the route to the trailer.
  3. Rigging plan. We fix the method, lifting points and centre of gravity, crew size and order of work, and book permits and escorts if the machine travels on public roads.
  4. Shutdown and disconnects. Your licensed electricians disconnect power, your maintenance team locks out the machine, isolates air and water and drains fluids, and the OEM backs up the controls where a machine needs it.
  5. Rig and lift. Rated slings, shackles and spreader beams go on, and the machine is raised by gantry, jacks or lift truck, or by a licensed crane partner for an overhead pick.
  6. Move. The machine rolls on skates to its new bay, or out through your dock onto a trailer matched to its weight and height.
  7. Set and hand over. We place it on the marked footprint, level it and leave it ready for your electricians and the OEM to restart.

Industrial Rigging Equipment Our Crew Brings

We size the gear to the load and the building, not the other way round:

  • Machinery skates and rollers for long, low moves across a plant or warehouse floor
  • Hydraulic gantries to lift a machine where the building has no overhead crane
  • Jack-and-roll systems to raise very heavy or tall equipment in stages and roll it into position
  • Heavy-capacity forklifts for docks, trailers and yard work
  • Rated slings, shackles, spreader beams and lifting frames for each pick
  • Crane lifts through licensed crane partners when a machine has to go over a wall, through a roof opening or onto a high platform

Looking for machinery installation or relocation in Mississauga, ON? Our machine moving & rigging services use the same kit for both, so a machine arriving from a dealer is set as carefully as one leaving your plant.

Rigging Only or a Full Move

Plenty of Mississauga jobs never leave the building. Pick the scope that fits:

  • Rigging only: our equipment riggers come to your plant to shift machines between bays, re-lay out a line, handle the hoisting when a unit has to go up onto a mezzanine, or set a new machine your dealer has dropped at the dock. No trucking involved.
  • Full move: we rig the machine out, haul it to the new address (often a short run between business parks, or to Brampton, Milton or Oakville), set it in place and level it, with millwright installation if you need it.

Both come as one quote. If the machine is leaving the building, our machinery movers in Mississauga page covers transport and relocation in more detail. Our industrial moving services in Mississauga also scale up to a whole facility, from equipment transfers to complete plant relocations, sequenced to keep downtime to a minimum: see factory and plant relocation in Mississauga.

Machinery Transport and Permits in Mississauga

Machine loaded onto a trailer in a warehouse

When a job includes heavy machinery hauling, we load the machine on a trailer suited to its weight and height, then sort out the paperwork. Up to three authorities can be involved in a single Mississauga move:

  • City of Mississauga: a load over the Highway Traffic Act size or weight limits needs an excess load moving permit for City roads. Allow at least 5 business days, or 14 for a superload of 120,000 kg or more. Single trips need at least two private escort vehicles; loads beyond the single-trip length or width limits, or over 4.5 m high, travel with a police escort and a guild escort.
  • Region of Peel: Regional roads such as Dixie, Derry, Britannia and Mavis Roads need a separate Peel excess load permit.
  • Province: Highways 401, 403, 410 and 427 and the QEW need an MTO oversize/overweight permit; Ontario asks carriers to apply at least 5 business days ahead.

We apply for the permits, book the escorts and plan the route. For an oversize load, plan on one to three weeks of lead time, depending on which permits the route needs.

Crane Lifts for Machinery in Mississauga and Peel

Most machines move on skates, gantries or jacks, but some machinery lifting needs a crane: over a wall, through a roof opening or onto a mezzanine. For that crane rigging, our crane or a licensed partner crane is arranged with the rigging plan, so crane and rigging are priced on one quote. For more on how we plan these lifts across the GTA, see crane rigging and heavy lifting in Toronto.

A crane set up on a City of Mississauga road, sidewalk or boulevard needs a Temporary Road Occupation permit, applied for well in advance with drawings. On Peel Regional roads such as Dixie or Derry Road, a crane setup needs a Peel road occupancy permit with a traffic control plan. We arrange both before lift day.

Not a fit: crane rental or operated crane hire on its own; for a crane and operator only, call a crane rental company.

Set-in-Place, Levelling and Millwright Installation

At the new location our riggers lower the machine onto its marked footprint. Our millwrights then level it, align it to the conveyors or equipment around it, and anchor it where the drawings call for it. Your licensed electricians reconnect power, and the OEM technician handles start-up and calibration. On a line move, machines are set in the order your team will commission them.

Prioritizing Safety in Every Rigging Job

Busy Mississauga sites mean forklifts, trucks and people around the lift, so rigging safety starts with controlling the area:

  • a planned lift, with the weight, centre of gravity and lifting points confirmed before anything is raised;
  • slings and hardware rated for the load and checked before each pick;
  • the machine locked out by your staff, with power disconnected by your licensed electricians;
  • a taped-off lift zone, with only the rigging crew under or beside a raised load;
  • overhead power lines checked in loading yards: Ontario’s construction regulation (O. Reg. 213/91) keeps equipment at least 3 metres (10 feet) from lines of 750 to 150,000 volts;
  • your plant’s own permits, sign-in rules and PPE requirements followed on site.

If anything on the day does not match the plan, the crew stops and re-plans before lifting.

Expert Rigging Project Planning

Got an upcoming rigging project in Mississauga, Ontario? Our rigging experts can visit before the work starts. They look at access, floors, lifting points and the way out, then recommend the method and crew size, so the day itself goes to plan.

Machines and Equipment We Rig in Mississauga

Specialty rigging services start with knowing the machine. Our machinery riggers handle heavy and sensitive equipment such as:

  • Fillers, cappers, mixers, ovens and packaging machines from food and beverage lines
  • Tablet presses, coating pans, autoclaves and process skids for pharmaceutical and life sciences sites (see lab and medical equipment movers in Mississauga)
  • CNC machines, machining centres, lathes and grinders from aerospace and auto-parts shops
  • Stamping presses, press brakes and printing presses
  • Plastic injection moulding machines, extruders and their auxiliary equipment
  • Transformers, switchgear, generators and UPS units
  • Conveyors, sortation equipment and balers in distribution centres

Industries We Serve in Mississauga

The City of Mississauga names aerospace, automotive manufacturing, food and beverage manufacturing, life sciences and smart logistics among its key sectors. We rig for all of them, as well as for metal fabricators, plastics and packaging plants, printers, data centres and equipment dealers. Machines bought at auctions or sold from closing plants can be rigged out and delivered too (see plant closure and auction removal in the GTA).

Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Lines

In these plants a line move follows your quality system as closely as our rigging plan. Before anything is unbolted, each machine and connection gets a number and a photo. Stainless surfaces and guards are wrapped, skates and floor protection go down clean, and machines are loaded in the sequence your team will reinstall them. After set-in-place and levelling, your licensed electricians reconnect power, your staff reconnect air and water, and your QA team releases the line.

Some loads need more than skates. Presses and press brakes are top-heavy, CNC machining centres hold tight tolerances, and transformers must stay upright with their bushings protected. For these we lock axes and secure spindles once your team has backed up the control parameters, fit shipping brackets, rig from the manufacturer’s lifting points and, when a crane is the safer choice, bring in a licensed crane partner for the pick.

Rigging Services Cost in Mississauga: What Affects the Price

Rigging is quoted per job rather than at an hourly rate, once we have the details or have seen the site. What moves the number:

  • The machine: weight, footprint, height and where the centre of gravity sits
  • The building: dock height, door widths, ceiling clearance, floor capacity, stairs or a mezzanine
  • The method: skates, gantry, jack-and-roll or a crane lift (crane time is included in your quote)
  • The road: distance, City, Peel or MTO permits, and escorts for an oversize load
  • Extra work: disassembly, crating, storage, levelling and millwright installation
  • Timing: work in a shutdown window, at night or on a weekend

For a quick range, use the Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator. For a firm number, send the details listed below: one quote covers rigging, transport and set-in-place, which makes bids easier to compare.

Additional Rigging Services in Mississauga

Around the lift itself, our crew can also:

  • load and unload machines at your dock, from trailers or containers;
  • store machines for the short or long term between the old site and the new one;
  • move machinery across the border to and from the United States;
  • rig out machines bought at auctions or sold from closing plants;
  • inspect the site before the work starts and advise on the safest method.

Industrial Rigging in Mississauga: FAQ

What is industrial rigging?

Industrial rigging refers to the process of lifting, moving, and installing heavy equipment or machinery within an industrial setting. In practice our riggers confirm the weight and centre of gravity, attach rated slings or set up a gantry, then skid, roll or lift the machine to its new spot and set it down level. In Mississauga that usually happens inside a working plant or warehouse.

What do riggers do on a machinery move?

Riggers plan and carry out the lift. They work out the load, pick the lifting points, choose skates, a gantry, jacks or a crane partner, and keep the machine balanced and under control while it moves. On a Mississauga job the same crew also loads the trailer, sets the machine on its new footprint and levels it, so nothing is handed between companies.

What is heavy rigging?

Heavy rigging covers loads too heavy, tall or awkward for a forklift alone, such as stamping presses, large transformers, injection moulding machines or long production lines. It calls for jack-and-roll gear, hydraulic gantries, machinery skates or a crane lift through a licensed partner, plus a plan for the lifting points, the floor loading and the route out of the building.

What is the difference between rigging and lifting?

Rigging is the preparation: choosing the lifting points, attaching slings, shackles or a spreader beam, and balancing the load. Lifting is the raise itself, done by a gantry, jacks, a forklift or a crane. A safe lift depends on good rigging, which is why our riggers handle both steps and then move the machine to its new position.

How much do rigging services cost in Mississauga?

It depends on the machine weight and size, access at both ends, the rigging method, the distance and any permits or escorts. We price each job after seeing the details or the site, and estimates are free. For a rough range, try our Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator, then send photos for an exact quote.

Do I need a permit to move an oversize machine in Mississauga?

Yes, if the load is over the Highway Traffic Act size or weight limits. City roads need a City of Mississauga excess load permit, which takes at least 5 business days, or 14 for a superload of 120,000 kg or more. Regional roads such as Dixie or Derry need a Region of Peel permit, and highways such as the 401 need an MTO permit. We arrange them.

Do your riggers also work in Brampton and the rest of Peel?

Yes. We rig in Brampton, Caledon and Bolton as well as Mississauga, including moves from one city to the other. In Brampton, excess load permits are issued by the Region of Peel. For local details see industrial rigging in Brampton, or send both addresses with your quote request and we will confirm the crew and route.

Can you rig equipment inside a running food or pharma plant in Mississauga?

Yes. Food and beverage manufacturing and life sciences are among the City’s key sectors, and those plants rarely stop for long. We plan the move around your sanitation and QA schedule, wrap stainless surfaces, put down clean floor protection, and set machines in the order you will recommission them. Your licensed electricians reconnect power, your staff reconnect the other utilities, and your QA team releases the line.

Do you rent rigging equipment or offer crane services?

No. We are a rigging contractor, so our crew does the work with its own skates, gantries and rigging gear. We do not rent or sell rigging equipment or slings, and we do not offer crane rental or operated crane hire. When a lift needs a crane, our crane or a licensed partner crane is arranged with the rigging plan, and the crane time is included in your quote.

Which parts of Mississauga do you cover?

All of it, including the Northeast, Gateway and Airport Corporate Centre areas around Toronto Pearson, Meadowvale Corporate Centre, Western Business Park, Sheridan Park, Southdown and Clarkson. Nearby we serve Brampton, Caledon, Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills and Etobicoke. Send the site address with your quote request and we will confirm the crew, the route and any permits the move needs.
