Rigging-Busters is a rigging company in Milton for industrial work only. Our rigging contractors lift, skid, move and set machinery for plants, distribution centres and machine shops across Milton and Halton Region, whether a machine is going ten metres across your floor or to a new building on the other side of Highway 401.
Milton keeps adding industrial space. The Town counts more than 6,500 advanced-manufacturing jobs and reports nearly 2 million square feet of new industrial inventory in 2025, with new firms opening in the 401 Business Park and Derry Green. Every machine that goes into, out of or between those buildings needs industrial rigging services: a plan for the lift, the right gear, and a crew that stays until the machine is level.
- Industrial work only: machines, process lines and plant equipment, never household or office moves.
- One crew from first pick to final level: rigging, skidding, transport, set-in-place and millwright installation.
- Quick answers: quotes within 2–4 business hours of receiving your job details.
- Minimum job: 3,500 CAD. Most industrial jobs cost more, and your written quote shows the full price.
- Service area: Milton, Halton Region and the western GTA (see the areas we cover).

How We Rig and Lift Machinery in Milton
Whether it is one surface grinder or a full press line, every rigging job we take on in Milton runs through the same seven steps:
- Scope and nameplate: what is moving and where to, the make, model and weight from the nameplate, and the dates or shutdown window you are working to.
- Site walk: our riggers check door openings, overhead clearance, floor loading, trenches and pits, and the path to the dock or the truck.
- Rigging plan: we confirm the weight and centre of gravity, choose the pick points and pick the method: machinery skates, a hydraulic gantry, jack-and-roll, a heavy-capacity forklift, or a crane lift with our crane or a partner crane.
- Lockout and disconnects: your maintenance team or your licensed electricians isolate power, air and fluids before our crew touches the machine.
- Rig and lift: rated slings and shackles go on the pick points, and the machine is raised in stages on steel cribbing, then rolled or skidded clear.
- Transport, if it leaves the site: a trailer that suits the load, with the Town of Milton, Halton Region and MTO permits an oversize load needs.
- Set, level and hand back: the machine lands on its new footprint, is levelled and aligned, and is ready for your electricians; millwright installation is available.

Rigging Equipment Our Crew Brings
- Machinery skates and roller dollies to roll a machine across a finished floor instead of dragging it
- Hydraulic gantries for picks where the building has no overhead crane, or the crane cannot reach
- Jacks and steel cribbing for jack-and-roll: raising a heavy machine in stages until skates fit under it
- Rated slings and shackles matched to each pick, with tag lines where a load could swing
- Heavy-capacity forklifts for loading, unloading and short carries across a yard
- Crane lifts with our crane or a licensed partner crane when a job needs one
Rigging Only or a Full Move
Plenty of rigging in Milton plants never leaves the building: a press shifted to a new bay, a machining centre turned to open an aisle, a line moved to fit new equipment. For that kind of equipment rigging, book us as a rigging service only: we rig, move and set the machine inside your building. When the machine has to travel, the same crew loads it, hauls it and sets it at the other end, so there is no hand-off between a rigging company and a trucking company halfway through. Crane Lifts in Milton: Our Crane or a Partner Crane
Inside a plant, most rigging is done with skates, gantries and jack-and-roll, and no crane is needed. Outside, a crane is often the simplest tool: lifting a machine off a flatbed where there is no dock, setting equipment onto a mezzanine or a roof, or picking a unit through a roof opening. For those lifts we bring our own crane or a licensed partner crane, and our riggers do the rigging, the signals and the set-in-place. Ask to see the crane operator’s certificate of qualification on lift day: Ontario requires one to operate a mobile crane rated above 16,000 lb (O. Reg. 213/91, s. 150).
Searching for crane services in Milton for something other than a machine, or a crane and operator by the hour? A crane rental company is the better call for that. For machinery lifts across the GTA, see crane rigging and heavy lifting in Toronto.
Machinery Transport and Permits in Milton
Three road authorities can be involved in one Milton haul. Town streets need the Town of Milton’s wide, heavy, oversize or overweight vehicle permit, issued for one trip or for a year, with the application in at least five business days before you need it. Regional roads, such as Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) and Regional Road 25, need a Halton Region oversize permit, and Highway 401 needs an MTO oversize/overweight permit, which Ontario asks carriers to apply for at least five business days before the trip.
Halton’s rules set the haul schedule. A single-trip permit is needed above 3.99 m wide, 4.25 m high, 36.74 m long or 63,500 kg. Those moves run only in daylight on weekdays that are not statutory holidays, outside 6:30–9 a.m. and 3:30–6 p.m., with no single trips at all from December 24 to January 3. Loads should not stop or park on a Regional road, the permit does not cover roads posted as No Truck Routes, and the Region sets escort rules by size, with police escorts for the widest and longest loads. For loads over 120,000 kg, apply 45 days ahead; the Region may ask for a consultant engineer’s review.

Set-in-Place, Levelling and Millwright Installation
At the new location we land the machine on its marks, level it, align it to the line or the anchor layout, and leave it ready for your electricians to reconnect. Machines that travel in sections are put back together by our millwrights. Moving into a new building? Tell us early about the slab, the anchor locations and when the dock or drive-in door will be usable, so machines arrive when the floor is ready for them.

Industries We Serve in Milton
Milton mixes manufacturing with logistics. The Town lists Eaton Electrical’s manufacturing site in the Milton 401 Business Park, ROCKWOOL, in town since 1988, and manufacturers such as General Mills, Edgewell Personal Care and 511 Food Service in Derry Green, next to large distribution centres. Transportation and warehousing jobs grew 10 per cent in 2025 and industrial leasing more than doubled, which means a steady flow of equipment into, out of and between Milton buildings.
Rigging Into New Buildings in Derry Green and the 401 Business Park
Derry Green Corporate Business Park covers about 800 hectares south of Highway 401 and east of James Snow Parkway, and the Town expects about 18,000 jobs there once it is built out. Its eastern phase mixes large and small bays; the Milton Gates project alone plans 67 small-bay industrial units. The Milton 401 Industrial/Business Park is the town’s other major employment area.
Big bays and small units call for different rigging. A large distribution building has docks and room for forklifts but long conveyor and packaging lines to set in sequence; a small-bay unit may have a single drive-in door and little room to turn, so skates and a gantry often work better than a big forklift. Before moving day, check with your landlord or builder:
- the floor’s load rating, and any limits on forklifts on a new slab
- door sizes, and whether the dock leveller or drive-in door is working yet
- where power, air and anchors will be, so each footprint is final
- who confirms the building is ready to receive machines

Specialized Machinery Moving & Rigging Services
Some machines need more than a standard pick. Our specialty rigging services cover top-heavy presses that need a low, slow move on jacks and skates. They also cover CNC machining centres, where we lock the axes and secure the spindle while your team or the OEM backs up the parameters and drains the coolant; and long converting or packaging lines that are split, tagged and rebuilt in order. Specialty rigging and machinery moving by one crew is what keeps a line move inside its shutdown window.

Rigging Services Cost in Milton: What Affects the Price
Rigging is priced per job, once we know the machine, both sites and the route. In Milton, these are the things that move the number:
- The machine: weight, footprint and centre of gravity, and whether it travels in one piece or in sections
- Access at both ends: door sizes, ceiling height, floor loading, and a dock or a grade-level door
- Method: skates, gantry, jack-and-roll or a crane; when a lift needs a crane, the crane time is included in your quote
- Permits and escorts: the Town of Milton permit fee is $501 plus tax, Halton Region and MTO permits are separate, and escorts are added for the widest and longest loads
- Timing: on Halton roads, single-trip oversize loads move only in weekday daylight outside rush hours, so a weekend shutdown can mean rigging on Saturday and hauling on Monday
- Extras: crating, storage between sites, anchoring, levelling and millwright installation
Ask every bidder to price rigging, transport and set-in-place together, so you compare whole jobs rather than hourly rates. For a first range, use the Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator.

Industrial Rigging in Milton: FAQ
Industrial rigging is the planned lifting and moving of heavy machines and plant equipment. Riggers work out the weight and centre of gravity, attach rated slings at the right pick points, and raise, skid or roll the load with jacks, skates, gantries or a crane. In a Milton plant, that might mean shifting a press to a new bay or loading a machining centre onto a truck.
A rigging contractor, sometimes called an equipment rigger, plans and carries out the lift: checking the machine, the floor and the route, choosing slings, skates, gantries or a crane, and moving the load safely to its new spot. Our rigging contractors also haul machines with the right permits and set and level them on arrival, so one crew answers for the job from first pick to final shim.
Yes, when the crane lift is part of a rigging job: unloading a machine where there is no dock, setting equipment on a mezzanine or roof, or lifting through a roof opening. We use our crane or a partner crane and do the rigging ourselves. We do not rent out cranes or operators by the hour. For GTA lifts, see crane rigging and heavy lifting in Toronto.
It depends on the roads. Town of Milton streets need the Town’s oversize or overweight vehicle permit, applied for at least five business days ahead. Regional roads such as Steeles Avenue need a Halton Region permit, annual or single-trip depending on the load, and Highway 401 needs an MTO permit. We apply for each one and plan the route around the conditions they set.
Inside your plant, yes: we can rig during a weekend or holiday shutdown and plan the crew around it. Hauling is different. Halton Region allows single-trip oversize moves only in daylight on weekdays that are not statutory holidays, outside 6:30 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 6 p.m., and none from December 24 to January 3. A wide load may wait on your dock until the next weekday.
Yes. New buildings come with their own checks: is the slab cleared for machine loads, is the dock leveller or drive-in door working, and are the power drops and anchor points final? Send us the floor plan and your move-in date, and we will schedule the rigging, delivery and levelling for the day the floor is ready, with storage in between if the building runs late.
Each job is priced on its own: the weight and size of the machine, access at both ends, the rigging method, any crane lift, permits and escorts, and timing. An in-plant move of one machine costs far less than a line relocation with transport. For a first range, try our Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator, then send the details for an exact quote within 2 to 4 business hours.
Yes. Typical in-plant jobs are turning a machine to open an aisle, shifting a press to a new bay, or moving a line to make room for new equipment. We bring skates, a gantry or jack-and-roll gear, protect the floor, and set and level the machine in its new spot. Nothing goes on the road, so no transport permit is needed.
Heavy rigging is rigging for loads too heavy or awkward for a forklift alone: presses, large machining centres, transformers and long process-line sections. It relies on jacks and steel cribbing, skates, hydraulic gantries and, outdoors, crane lifts, with a plan for each pick. The floor and the route are checked before the load is set down, because a heavy machine can overload a slab.
Rigging is everything that makes a lift safe: choosing the pick points, the slings and shackles and the hitch, and checking the weight and balance of the load. Lifting is the move itself, by gantry, jacks, forklift or crane. A lift is only as good as its rigging, which is why our riggers plan both and stay with the machine until it is set and level.
