Rigging-Busters handles industrial plant relocation in Milton and the rest of Halton Region: Oakville, Burlington and Halton Hills. Our riggers, machinery movers and millwrights take a production line or a whole factory apart, truck it to the new address and rebuild it there, set in place and levelled for start-up. A single machine relocation inside your own building gets the same planning.
Milton’s industrial base keeps growing. The Town reports that advanced manufacturing supports more than 6,500 local jobs, that industrial leasing more than doubled in 2025, and that nearly 2 million square feet of industrial space was added (Town of Milton). For plants moving into that new space, two things shape the job: a building that may still have trades on site when your machines arrive, and a route on Halton Region roads, where the largest loads may only travel at set times. Our plant relocation services are planned around both.
- Plant equipment only: machines, production lines and plant utilities. We do not move offices, homes or staff.
- Turnkey plant moving for the mechanical scope: one crew rigs, hauls, sets in place, levels and aligns, with millwright installation at the new site.
- A reply within 2–4 business hours to every quote request, and a visit to both buildings before we price a large move.
- Service area: Milton, Halton Region and the western GTA, longer moves across Ontario, and cross-border transport to and from the United States.
Need a ballpark first? Our Heavy Lifting & Moving Calculator gives an instant rough price range; a firm quote follows once we have your equipment list.

Turnkey Factory & Plant Relocation in Milton, Step by Step

What a Turnkey Plant Move Covers
Turnkey, for us, means the whole mechanical side of the move under one contract and one schedule: planning, teardown, rigging, trucking, set-in-place, levelling and millwright installation. Two pieces stay with your own trades: your licensed electricians disconnect and reconnect power, and your piping contractor handles process lines. A Milton plant move usually runs in six steps:
- Asset list and walk-through: we tour the plant with your maintenance lead and record every machine with its weight, footprint and connections.
- New-building check: door sizes, dock heights, slab details and the spot where each machine lands, ideally before the floor is finished.
- Move order: your planners pick which lines run until the last shift and which go first, and we put a downtime figure on each.
- Route and permits: Town of Milton, Halton Region and MTO permits for any oversize load, timed to the Region’s travel windows.
- Teardown and rig-out: once power is off, we match-mark, split what cannot travel whole, then crate or skid it and load it.
- Rig-in, level and hand over: each machine goes through its planned door to its marked spot; our millwrights level and align it, and your team or the OEM starts it up.

Customized Plant Relocation Services for New and Existing Buildings

Moving Into a New Building in Milton
If your plant is moving into a new building in Milton, for example in the 401 Business Park or the Derry Green Corporate Business Park, the site may still have trades working when your equipment is due. We plan for that:
- Ready dates: slab, power, dock levellers and the occupancy permit, confirmed with your general contractor before the first load leaves.
- Anchoring: anchor positions and grout details agreed with your engineer, so our millwrights can fix each machine as soon as it is levelled.
- Floor protection: where the new floor needs it, skates and lift trucks run on protected paths.
- Storage: if the building runs late, your equipment waits in storage instead of on a trailer.
Partial Moves, Consolidations and Expansions
Not all plant relocations empty a building. A growing company may move one department to a second Halton building, merge two sites into one, or shift lines inside the same plant to make room for new equipment. Each gets its own equipment list and sequence. Machines that leave for good are handled separately; see machinery removal in Toronto and the GTA for plant closures and auctions.
Keeping Production Running During the Move
Few plants can stop everything at once. The usual pattern is to build stock ahead, move one line, prove it at the new site, then bring down the next, so for a few weeks you run two buildings. Teardown and in-plant work can happen over a weekend, but loads that need a Halton single-trip permit travel on weekdays only, so the haul is planned around that. Your planners get a downtime estimate per line before anything is booked.

Value-for-Money Factory Relocation Services: How a Milton Move Is Priced

What Drives the Price of a Plant Relocation
We price each plant relocation as a project, from your equipment list and a visit to both buildings. The figure depends mostly on:
- Scope: the number of machines, their weights, and how many lines have to be taken apart
- Rebuild work: crating, match-marking, levelling and alignment at the new site
- The two buildings: door and dock sizes, floor ratings, mezzanines and overhead obstacles
- Route and permits: trailer types, escorts, and how Halton’s weekday, daylight travel windows spread the hauling over several days
- Timing: phased moves, shutdown work, and storage while the new building is finished
- Lifting method: skates, gantries, jack-and-roll, or a partner crane lift (crane time is included in your quote)
Whichever plant moving company you choose, check that every quote covers the same work, from rig-out to levelling. Estimates are free, priced in Canadian dollars (CAD).

Production Line Relocation in Milton
A line is taken apart in the reverse of the order it will go back together. Before teardown we photograph and match-mark each connection, tag cables and hoses, and note where every machine sits and how high, against reference marks on the floor. Your licensed electricians disconnect power and controls. We move each machine and set it to the new marks, our millwrights level and align it, and conveyors and transfer points go back in last.
Milton Industries We Move
Advanced manufacturing, which the Town calls a core pillar of Milton’s export economy, supports more than 6,500 local jobs, and jobs in transportation and warehousing grew by 10 per cent, according to the Town’s 2025 results (Town of Milton). We relocate equipment for that mix: auto-parts stamping and metal fabrication, food production, building products, and the conveyor systems of distribution centres along Highway 401.

Factory Decommissioning & Dismantling Services Before the Move

Clearing the Old Plant for Hand-Back
The old building has its own deadline, usually the end of the lease or the closing date of a sale. We work back from that date so the floor is clear in time:
- Disconnects first: your licensed electricians isolate power, and your trades cap compressed air, water and gas.
- Overhead before floor: overhead conveyors, platforms and mezzanine-mounted machines come down before the floor equipment moves.
- Split and crate: machines too large for the road are split at their bolted joints, labelled and crated.
- Surplus last: anything you are selling, auctioning or scrapping is removed on its own schedule, after the equipment that moves.
Demolition, site cleaning and any environmental work are for specialist contractors; we coordinate our dates with theirs.

Factory Installation & Reassembly Services in the New Plant

Set-in-Place, Levelling and Start-Up
At the new plant, each machine comes in through the door chosen during planning and goes straight to its marked footprint. Our millwrights level and align it to the layout, then fix it to the floor where the drawings call for anchors. Lines are rebuilt in order and checked against the match marks. Your electricians reconnect power, and your maintenance team or the OEM runs the start-up.
If the New Building Is Not Ready
Construction delays are common with new industrial buildings. If the occupancy permit, the power supply or the slab is late, your equipment goes into storage rather than waiting on trailers, and we reschedule the rig-in once the site is ready.

Reliable Factory Transport & Rigging Services in Milton and Halton

How We Rig Machines Out and In
Most plant equipment moves on machinery skates and toe jacks, with hydraulic gantries where the building has no overhead crane and jack-and-roll for the heaviest bases. Heavy-capacity forklifts load the trailers. When a lift needs a crane, we bring in a licensed crane partner. Plants with their own trucking can hire us for rigging only; see industrial rigging in Milton.
Permits for Oversize Loads in Milton and Halton
A plant move out of Milton can cross three road owners, and each has its own permit. On Town of Milton roads, an oversize or overweight load needs a Town permit, applied for at least five business days before the move (Town of Milton). Regional roads such as Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) and Regional Road 25 belong to Halton Region, which covers smaller oversize loads with an annual permit and requires a single-trip permit for loads over 3.99 m wide, 4.25 m high or 63,500 kg (Halton Region).
Halton’s single-trip permits come with travel windows: daylight only, no weekends or statutory holidays, and nothing during the 6:30–9 a.m. and 3:30–6 p.m. peaks. Loads should not park or stop over on a Regional road, and loads over 120,000 kg need at least 45 days’ notice and may need an engineer’s review of the bridges on the route. Highway 401 needs an MTO permit, requested at least 5 business days ahead. We plan the route, arrange escorts and apply for every permit, including for cross-border moves to the United States.

Emergency Factory Relocation and Shutdown Moves in Halton

Short-Notice Plant Moves
Sometimes the timeline is set for you: water damage, a fire, a landlord ending the lease early, or a sale that closes fast. Our reply to a quote request comes within 2–4 business hours, and a short-notice move is planned like any other, just compressed. Permit lead times do not shrink, so loads within legal size limits go first while the oversize permits are processed.
Moving During the Christmas Shutdown
Many plants want to move during the year-end shutdown, but Halton Region allows no single-trip permit moves from December 24 to January 3. Loads that need such a permit have to travel before December 24 or after January 3, and applications for early-January moves can still be processed before December 24. Teardown, in-plant moves, rig-in and levelling, and hauling legal-size loads can all go ahead during the shutdown.

Why Plant Managers in Halton Hire Us
- We only move industrial equipment: no offices, no homes, no furniture.
- One crew owns the mechanical scope from rig-out to levelling, so there are no gaps between contractors.
- Halton road rules built into the schedule: Town, Regional and MTO permits, the Regional travel windows and the year-end blackout.
- A downtime figure for every line before the move is booked.
- Fast answers: quotes within 2–4 business hours.
A good fit: whole-plant moves, single-line and single machine relocations, moves into new buildings, consolidations, and industrial and commercial factory relocations anywhere in Ontario or across the border.
Not a fit: office or corporate relocation, manufacturing relocation consulting such as site selection, household moves, warehouse construction and building upgrades, tree and garden plant moving, crane rental, and machine repair.

Plant and Factory Relocation in Milton: Your Questions
In four stages. First the plan: an asset list, a check of the new building, a move order and the permits. Then teardown, once your licensed electricians have disconnected power. Then the haul, timed to the road rules on the route. Finally the rig-in: each machine is set on its marked spot, levelled and aligned by our millwrights, and started up by your team or the OEM.
Everything needed to restart production at the new address: planning and scheduling, disconnects by your own trades, dismantling, crating, rigging, trucking with any permits, storage if the new site is not ready, and set-in-place, levelling and alignment at the new plant. Office furniture, IT equipment and staff moves are separate jobs for commercial movers.
Industrial relocation is moving production capacity, meaning machines, lines, compressors, transformers and other plant equipment, from one site to another. It differs from a business or office move because the loads are heavy, often oversize, and must be reinstalled precisely. An industrial relocation services team plans the sequence, rigs and hauls the equipment, then sets and levels it so production can restart.
Only for oversize or overweight loads, and each road owner issues its own. Town of Milton roads need a Town permit, applied for at least five business days ahead. On Halton Region roads such as Steeles Avenue, loads over 3.99 m wide, 4.25 m high or 63,500 kg need a single-trip permit, and smaller oversize loads an annual one. Highway 401 needs an MTO permit. We apply for each one.
Under a Halton single-trip permit, only on weekdays in daylight, never on statutory holidays, and outside the morning peak of 6:30 to 9 a.m. and the afternoon peak of 3:30 to 6 p.m. Loads should not park or stop over on a Regional road. That is why a large plant move in Halton is often spread over several weekdays.
Partly. Halton Region allows no single-trip permit moves from December 24 to January 3, so the largest loads, the ones needing that permit, must travel before or after those dates. The shutdown is still useful: teardown, in-plant moves, rig-in, levelling and legal-size loads can all go ahead. Applications for moves after January 3 can be processed before December 24, so apply early.
Once the slab, power, docks and occupancy permit are confirmed, not before. We agree the ready dates with your general contractor and plan the rig-in around any trades still working on site. If the building runs late, your equipment goes to storage instead of waiting on trailers, and the machines are then rigged in, levelled and anchored in the order your start-up plan needs.
All of Milton, including the 401 Business Park and the Derry Green Corporate Business Park, and the rest of Halton Region: Oakville, Burlington and Halton Hills, including Georgetown and Acton. We also move plants to and from Mississauga, Brampton, Guelph, Hamilton and Toronto, across southern Ontario, and across the border to and from the United States.
It is priced per project. The main factors are how much equipment moves, how much must be dismantled and rebuilt, access at both buildings, the route and permits, and the schedule, including any storage. Halton travel windows can add hauling days for the largest loads. Estimates are free, and our Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator gives a rough range in advance.
No. We relocate industrial equipment only. Office and corporate relocation companies handle staff moves, and builders handle warehouse construction. Where we do help is during industrial facility upgrades: when machines have to move out of the way and back, or new equipment has to be rigged into a finished building, our crew does that part around the builder’s schedule.
