Industrial forklift loaded on a lowboy trailer for transport

We offer a forklift moving service in Milton, Ontario, Canada, and nearby areas for distribution centres, manufacturers and equipment dealers across Halton Region. Most requests are one of two jobs: forklift transport, which takes a lift truck from one site to another on a trailer, and moving machinery with forklifts, where a heavier forklift unloads, carries and sets a machine the plant cannot lift itself.

Milton’s industrial side has grown fast. The Town of Milton reports that advanced manufacturing supports more than 6,500 local jobs, that jobs in transportation and warehousing grew by 10 per cent, that industrial leasing more than doubled in 2025 and that the industrial inventory grew by nearly 2 million square feet. Firms have started operations in the 401 Business Park and the Derry Green Corporate Business Park. New buildings need forklift fleets delivered; growing plants need machines brought in.

We cover Milton and the surrounding area in Halton Region, from Georgetown and Acton to Oakville and Burlington.

  • Industrial work only: lift trucks, machines and plant equipment; no residential moves.
  • One crew, start to finish: loading, securing, the drive and setting the unit down.
  • Fast quotes: within 2–4 business hours, and estimates are free.
  • Area: Milton and Halton Region, west to Guelph and Cambridge, east to Mississauga and the GTA.

Forklift Transport in Milton, From Pickup to Drop-Off

Moving forklift fleets or a single lift truck follows the same sequence. Our forklift movers:

  1. Collect the specs: a data-plate photo, the weight with battery or counterweight, the overall height with the mast down, fork length and any attachment.
  2. Check pickup and delivery: dock or grade door, door height, yard surface, slopes, and where the trailer can stand while it loads.
  3. Book the right deck: a tilt-deck or beavertail for a standard truck; a step-deck or low-bed for a tall mast or a heavy yard forklift.
  4. Make it safe to haul: forks flat on the deck, brake set, key out, battery unplugged or propane valve shut.
  5. Drive or lift it aboard: a working unit climbs the ramp on its own power; a dead one needs its own plan (next section).
  6. Secure the load: rated chains on the tie-down points, at least four on a wheeled unit heavier than 4,500 kg under NSC Standard 10, and any removed attachment secured on its own.
  7. Unload and place: off the trailer at the new site, driven or carried to its spot, and handed over after a walk-around.

Which Forklifts We Move

Forklifts fall into a few broad groups, and each travels differently: counterbalance forklifts running on electric, propane or diesel power; warehouse trucks such as reach trucks, order pickers, walkie stackers and pallet jacks; and large pneumatic-tire forklifts built for yards and rough ground. When a distribution centre opens or reorganizes, units move in numbers, so we plan fleet moves in waves. As a forklift delivery service, we also bring dealer and auction purchases straight to your dock.

If the Lift Truck Won’t Run

Tell us if the unit doesn’t run; we confirm the method before quoting. A lift truck with a dead battery, a burst hydraulic hose or a seized brake can’t drive up a ramp, and pulling it on locked wheels damages the drive train. Include the fault, the weight and a photo of where the unit sits, and the method and the price come back together.

Oversize Permits in Milton: Town Roads, Halton Region and Highway 401

Most forklifts travel on a low trailer without any permit. When a load is wide, tall or heavy enough to need one, three authorities can be involved. The Town of Milton issues a wide, heavy, oversize or overweight vehicle permit, one-time or annual, and asks for the application at least five business days before you need it; it does not issue permits for Regional roads. Halton Region permits its own roads; in Milton these include Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) and Tremaine Road (Regional Road 22). Its oversize permits come in two kinds: an annual permit for loads 2.60 to 3.99 m wide or 4.15 to 4.25 m high, and a single-trip permit above 3.99 m wide, 4.25 m high or 36.74 m long, or over 63,500 kg. Highway 401 is provincial, so an MTO oversize permit covers it, applied for at least 5 business days ahead.

When Oversize Loads Can Travel on Halton Roads

Single-trip moves on Regional roads run in daylight only, never on weekends or statutory holidays, and outside the 6:30–9 a.m. and 3:30–6 p.m. peaks. No single-trip moves are allowed between December 24 and January 3, which matters if you planned a permit load for the holiday shutdown. We schedule the haul inside those windows before we confirm a delivery date.

Delivering to a Milton Site Without a Dock

If the truck or the forklift would have to work from a Town road or boulevard, ask about a road occupancy permit early: the Town of Milton requires one before any work on its roads and allows up to 30 business days to issue it. A dock, a grade-level door or room on your own lot avoids that wait, so send photos of the frontage with your request.

Machinery Moving Services With Forklifts in Milton

A forklift is often the tool rather than the cargo. When a press brake, a CNC machining centre or a packaging line arrives on a flatbed, or has to cross the plant, we bring a heavy-capacity forklift with fork extensions to unload it, carry it in and set it on its marks. Your licensed electricians disconnect and reconnect power. Where the forks can’t reach, the crew switches to machinery skates, a hydraulic gantry or jack-and-roll. Fleet Moves for New Warehouses in the 401 Business Park and Derry Green

New distribution buildings in the 401 Business Park and the Derry Green Corporate Business Park start with empty docks and a go-live date. For a new building, that means forklifts, reach trucks and order pickers delivered ahead of opening day; for an expanding tenant, units moved between buildings in waves, timed around inbound and outbound appointments so shipping does not stop.

Our Equipment for Forklift and Machine Moves

Heavy-capacity forklifts and fork extensions, machinery skates and toe jacks, a hydraulic gantry for low ceilings, cribbing and jacks for jack-and-roll, and tilt-deck, step-deck and low-bed trailers with rated chains. If a lift needs a crane, we plan it with our crane or a partner crane; we don’t rent out cranes.

Forklift Moving Cost in Milton: What Changes the Price

We price each forklift move once we know the unit and both addresses. The main factors:

  • Size and weight: a pallet jack or walkie stacker is a small job; a large yard forklift or a heavy machine is not
  • Whether it drives: dead units take longer to load
  • Site access: docks, doors, the yard surface and the path inside the building
  • Route and permits: distance, trailer type, Town, Halton or MTO permits, and Halton’s daylight and rush-hour windows
  • Scheduling: evenings, weekends and shutdown work

How to pay less: send the data-plate details and photos with the request, combine several units in one trip, have batteries charged and aisles clear, and keep the date flexible. For a ballpark first, use the Heavy Lifting & Moving Calculator.

Why Halton Warehouses and Manufacturers Call Us

  • Industrial jobs only: forklifts, machines and production equipment.
  • The same crew from pickup to placement, booked once.
  • Moves that respect your schedule: dock appointments, shift changes and shutdowns.
  • Halton’s rules built in: Town, Regional and MTO permits and the daylight and holiday travel limits.
  • Options beyond forks: skates, gantries and jack-and-roll.
  • Quick replies: quotes within 2–4 business hours, and estimates are free.
  • Insured: liability and workers’ compensation insurance (WSIB in Ontario), with a certificate of insurance on request.

Milton Forklift Moving: Questions and Answers

What does a forklift moving service do?

In Milton it means two kinds of jobs. Forklift transport: a lift truck is prepared, loaded, chained, driven to the new site and unloaded. And machinery moving with forklifts: we bring a forklift heavy enough to unload, carry and place a machine that the plant cannot lift with its own fleet. We do industrial work only, and quote requests get an answer within 2–4 business hours.

What kind of machinery can you move with your forklift moving service?

Around Milton the list usually includes press brakes and shears, CNC machining centres, packaging and labelling machines, conveyor sections, large-format printers, crated equipment from dealers, and lift trucks of the common types. We check the weight, centre of gravity and pick points first, and use skates, a gantry or jack-and-roll whenever forks alone would be unsafe.

Can you move a forklift that doesn’t run?

Tell us if the unit doesn’t run; we confirm the method before quoting. A lift truck with a flat battery or a hydraulic fault can’t climb a ramp, and dragging it can ruin the drive and brakes. Send the fault, the weight and photos of the unit and the space around it, so the loading method and the price can be set together before anyone arrives.

Who issues oversize permits for a move through Milton?

It depends on the road. The Town of Milton issues one-time or annual permits for Town roads and wants applications at least five business days ahead. Halton Region permits its own roads, such as Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8), and the MTO covers Highway 401 with at least 5 business days of notice. A standard forklift on a low trailer usually needs no permit at all.

When can oversize loads travel on Halton roads?

Single-trip moves on Halton Regional roads run in daylight only, not on weekends or statutory holidays, and outside the morning peak of 6:30 to 9 a.m. and the afternoon peak of 3:30 to 6 p.m. No single-trip moves are allowed from December 24 to January 3, so a holiday-shutdown move that needs a permit has to be planned around that gap.

What if our Milton site has no loading dock?

Then the unit comes off at grade, using a tilt-deck trailer, a ramp or a forklift on your lot. If the truck or forklift would have to work from a Town road or boulevard, a road occupancy permit may be needed: the Town of Milton requires one before any work on its roads and allows up to 30 business days to issue it, so tell us early.

Do you move forklift fleets for new warehouses in the 401 Business Park and Derry Green?

Yes. The Town of Milton reports nearly 2 million square feet of new industrial space and 10 per cent growth in transportation and warehousing jobs, with new firms in the 401 Business Park and the Derry Green Corporate Business Park. We deliver reach trucks, order pickers and counterbalance forklifts ahead of go-live and move fleets between buildings in planned waves.

Which types of forklifts do you move?

Most units fall into three groups: counterbalance forklifts running on electric, propane or diesel power; warehouse trucks such as reach trucks, order pickers, walkie stackers and pallet jacks; and large pneumatic-tire forklifts for yards and rough ground. Each group needs a different trailer and tie-down plan, so send the model and weight and we match the method to the unit.

How much does forklift moving cost in Milton?

Every move is priced on its own details: the unit’s size and weight, whether it runs, access at both sites, the distance and trailer, any Town, Halton or MTO permits, and the timing. Moving several units in one trip and sending accurate data-plate photos keeps the price down. For a quick range, use our Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator.

Do you rent forklifts, service them or hire operators?

No. We move forklifts and use them to move machines; we are not a rental company, dealer, repair shop or staffing agency. For rentals, sales, parts, repairs, mobile forklift service, operator training or forklift jobs in Milton, contact a dealer, a training school or a staffing agency. We also don’t provide general freight services or household moves.
