Crew moving a large industrial machine on steel cribbing with a heavy-capacity forklift

Rigging-Busters moves, rigs and installs industrial machinery in Vaughan and Concord: a CNC machining centre into a new shop in Concord, a press line across a plant in Woodbridge, or a whole plant from Vaughan to its next building. Our riggers take machines off their foundations, move them on skates, jacks, gantries or a heavy forklift, load and haul them, then set them in place at the new site.

We work for plant and maintenance managers, equipment dealers and integrators, auction buyers and the contractors fitting out new buildings across Vaughan’s employment areas.

  • Industrial only: machines and plant equipment, with no household or office moves.
  • Riggers at both ends: rig-out, loading, the haul, unloading and set-in-place, planned as one job.
  • Minimum job: 3,500 CAD. Most rigged machine moves cost more, and your written quote shows the full price before work starts.
  • Quick replies: quotes within 2–4 business hours, and estimates are free.
  • Insured: liability and workers’ compensation insurance (WSIB in Ontario), with a certificate of insurance on request.

Machinery Moving Across Vaughan’s Industrial Areas

Vaughan is one of the GTA’s main manufacturing and distribution areas, and its plants sit close together along a few corridors. We cover all of them:

  • Concord: the industrial blocks around Highway 7, Keele Street and Jane Street, home to machine shops, fabricators, printers and food plants.
  • Woodbridge and Pine Valley: plants and warehouses between Highway 7, Weston Road and Highway 27.
  • The Highway 400 corridor: manufacturing and logistics buildings around Langstaff Road and Rutherford Road.
  • Northwest Vaughan: the newer employment lands near Highway 427 and Major Mackenzie Drive.
  • Maple, Thornhill and the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre: labs, clinics, data and telecom rooms, and building plant.

Older Concord buildings and new high-bay warehouses ask for different methods: a tight dock and a low door in one, long distances across the floor in the other. A short site visit settles the method before the move date.

What We Move in Vaughan and Concord

  • CNC machining centres, lathes, grinders and other machine tools
  • Presses, press brakes, shears, lasers and coil-processing lines
  • Injection moulding machines with their robots, dryers and moulds
  • Food processing and packaging lines, mixers, ovens and conveyors
  • Printing presses, converting and finishing equipment
  • Generators, UPS and switchgear for data centres and building plant, and transformers
  • Compressors, chillers, tanks and other plant utilities

Not a Fit

Household and office moves, vehicles, general freight, forklift or crane rental on its own, and jobs under our 3,500 CAD minimum. For those, a moving company or a rental firm will serve you better.

Rigging, Moving and Installation as One Job

A machine move in Vaughan usually follows the same path: rig the machine out, move it across the floor or onto a trailer, haul it, then set it in place at the new site. We plan it as one job, so the same team is responsible from the old foundation to the new one.

Permits for Machinery Moves in Vaughan: York Region, City and MTO

In Vaughan, three road authorities can be involved in one move, and each needs its own permit for an oversize load or for work on its roads:

York Region Roads

Most of Vaughan’s arterial roads, including Highway 7, Rutherford Road, Major Mackenzie Drive, Langstaff Road, and Jane, Keele, Weston and Dufferin Streets, are York Region roads. On them, a load wider than 2.6 m, higher than 4.15 m or longer than 12.5 m (including the vehicle), or heavier than the Highway Traffic Act allows, needs a York Region Excess Load Permit. The application is online and should go in about two weeks before the move; a single-trip permit costs $350 and an annual permit $210. Loads between 30.5 and 36.5 m long need a private escort, and loads taller than 4.72 m, wider than 4.27 m or longer than 36.5 m need a police escort. Working on a Regional road, for example with a crane or a lane closure, needs a separate construction permit applied for about four weeks ahead.

City of Vaughan Streets

Industrial streets inside Vaughan’s business parks are City roads. An oversize or overweight load on them needs a City of Vaughan Excess Load Permit, and a truck, crane or other equipment that occupies the road allowance or closes a lane needs a City road occupancy permit, applied for at least 10 business days before the work.

Highways 400 and 427

On provincial highways, an oversize or overweight load needs an MTO oversize/overweight permit, applied for at least 5 business days before the trip.

Spring Weight Restrictions

From March 1 to April 30, spring weight restrictions apply on listed York Region roads while the frost comes out of the ground, and in Vaughan, sections of King-Vaughan Road and Teston Road are restricted year-round. Vehicles over five tonnes per axle need a Load Exemption Permit for roads with year-round restrictions. We plan heavy hauls around these limits.

Machinery Moving Cost in Vaughan: What Affects the Price

Machinery moves are priced per job, once we know the machine and both sites. The main cost drivers are:

  • Size and weight of each machine, and how many there are
  • Rigging method: skates, jacks, a gantry, a heavy forklift or a crane
  • Access: docks, doors, floor capacity and overhead lines at both ends
  • The haul: distance, trailer type and any York Region, City or MTO permits
  • Timing: shutdown windows, nights and weekends
  • Installation: levelling, anchoring and alignment at the new site

Jobs start at 3,500 CAD, and most rigged machine moves cost more. For a rough range, try the Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator, or see how jobs are priced on our pricing page.

Machinery Movers in Vaughan: FAQ

How much does it cost to move a machine in Vaughan?

It is priced per job: the machine’s size and weight, the rigging method, access at both ends, the haul and any permits set the price. Jobs start at 3,500 CAD, and most rigged machine moves cost more. For a rough range, use our Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator.

Do I need a permit to move a machine on York Region roads?

Yes, when the load is over the legal size or weight: wider than 2.6 m, higher than 4.15 m, longer than 12.5 m including the vehicle, or heavier than the Highway Traffic Act allows. York Region issues an Excess Load Permit online; apply about two weeks before the move. A single trip costs $350.

Which roads in Vaughan are York Region roads?

Most arterials: Highway 7, Rutherford Road, Major Mackenzie Drive, Langstaff Road, and Jane, Keele, Weston and Dufferin Streets, among others. Industrial streets inside the business parks are City of Vaughan roads, and Highways 400 and 427 are provincial, so a move can need permits from all three authorities.

Are there seasonal limits for heavy loads in Vaughan?

Yes. York Region applies spring weight restrictions on listed roads from March 1 to April 30, and sections of King-Vaughan Road and Teston Road in Vaughan are restricted year-round. Vehicles over five tonnes per axle need a Load Exemption Permit for those sections, or the haul is routed around them.

Do you install and level machines after the move?

Yes. Machines are set on their marks, levelled and anchored to the manufacturer’s drawings, and lines are aligned where the job needs it. For larger installations, see our millwright services and machinery installation page for Toronto and the GTA.

Can you move a whole plant out of Vaughan?

Yes. Plant moves are planned line by line, so the machines that keep your orders going move last or move first, depending on your schedule. We rig out, load, haul and set each line at the new building, inside Ontario or to Quebec, and moves to the United States are quoted case by case.

Can you pick up machines bought at an auction in Concord?

Yes. Auction removals have fixed windows and the auction house’s own paperwork, such as a certificate of insurance and a rigger release. See auction machinery removal for how it works, then send your lots, the removal deadline and the sale’s terms with your quote request.

Do you use cranes for machinery in Vaughan?

When a machine has to go onto a roof, into a pit or over an obstacle, yes: with our crane or a partner crane, planned by our riggers. We don’t rent out cranes on their own. Most machine moves inside a plant need no crane at all, just skates, jacks, gantries or a heavy forklift.

Do you move generators and switchgear for data centres in Vaughan?

Yes. Generators, UPS units, switchgear and transformers are rigged out, moved and set on their pads or in their rooms, with the electrical contractor making the connections. Tell us the weights, the access route and any crane needs in your quote request.

What do you need from me for an exact quote?

The machine’s make, model, weight and dimensions, photos of it and the way out, both addresses, the access at each end, whether it needs installation, your dates and your site rules, such as WSIB clearance or insurance certificates. Send them with the quote request form, and we usually reply within 2–4 business hours.
