Large machining centre on machinery skates, ready to be moved

Rigging-Busters are CNC machine movers for machine shops, toolrooms and manufacturers in Mississauga, ON. Our machinery movers and riggers lift, skid, haul and set machining centres, lathes, grinders and press brakes, from one machine to a whole shop.

CNC machine moving is precision work: a machining centre is top-heavy, its axes and spindle must be locked for the trip, and it has to start again at the other end.

We work across Mississauga, ON and the surrounding area, from the Northeast employment area by Pearson airport to Meadowvale, Sheridan Park and Southdown, and into Brampton, Etobicoke and Oakville.

  • Industrial only: CNC machines and other plant equipment, never household or office moves.
  • One crew from start to finish: rigging, transport, set-in-place, levelling and millwright installation.
  • Quick answers: quote replies within 2–4 business hours.
  • Where we work: Mississauga, the rest of Peel Region, Halton and the west GTA.

Comprehensive CNC Machine Moving Services in Mississauga

From the first site look to the final level check, one crew handles your CNC machine moving:

CNC Machine Relocation

Our CNC machine relocation service covers a machine shifted to a new bay, a move between two units, and a machine shop relocation done in stages, so the spindles that earn the most are cutting again first. Moving a whole facility? See plant and factory relocation in Mississauga.

In a multi-tenant building we also check the overhead door, the dock or ramp and the slab, and book the dock with your property manager.

CNC Machine Transport

As a CNC machine transportation company, we put each machine on a trailer matched to its weight and height, from a tilt-deck for a compact VMC to a lowboy for a tall horizontal, and chain it down by its base or skid, never by the sheet metal.

CNC Machine Installation

CNC machine installation means setting the machine on its marks and levelling it on its pads, ready for your licensed electricians and the OEM technician. For larger installs, see our millwright services and machinery installation in the GTA.

Customized Moving Solutions

We build customized moving solutions around your shop: one VMC moved over a weekend, a toolroom moved in phases, or a same-day swap of an old machine for the dealer’s new one. Storage is available; for auction buys or a closing plant, see plant closure and auction removal in the GTA.

How to Move a CNC Machine in Mississauga: Step by Step

Here is who does what, in the order it happens:

  1. Specs and a site look: make, model, weight and footprint, both addresses, and photos of the door, dock and floor at each end.
  2. Back-up and coolant (your team or the OEM): back up the programs and parameters, drain the coolant and way-lube tanks, and clear the chips.
  3. Power off (your licensed electricians): they disconnect and lock out the power; your maintenance team disconnects the air and coolant lines.
  4. Securing (our crew): we lock the axes with shipping brackets or blocking, secure the spindle and tool changer, and strap the doors and covers.
  5. Rigging out: toe jacks raise the base, skates, a hydraulic gantry or jack-and-roll take the machine to the door, and a heavy-capacity forklift loads it. A crane lift (our crane or a partner crane) is used only when there is no other way in.
  6. Transport: a trailer matched to the load, with City, Peel or MTO permits and escorts for an oversize load.
  7. Set, level and hand over: we place and level the machine; your licensed electricians reconnect it and the OEM technician recommissions it.

CNC Machine Permits in Mississauga: City, Region of Peel and MTO

Most CNC machines ride within legal limits. A load over the Highway Traffic Act height, width or weight limits needs a permit from whoever owns the road:

  • City of Mississauga roads: an excess load moving permit, processed in at least 5 business days (14 for a superload of 120,000 kg or more); a single trip needs at least two private escort vehicles.
  • Region of Peel roads such as Dixie, Derry, Mavis and Britannia: Peel’s own excess load permit, applied for at least 10 business days before the move.
  • Highways 401, 403, 410, 427 and the QEW: an MTO oversize/overweight permit, applied for at least 5 business days ahead.

We arrange the permits, so tell us early if the machine is wide or tall.

Why Mississauga Machine Shops Choose Us for CNC Machine Moving

What you get when you hire Rigging-Busters as your CNC moving company in Mississauga:

  • CNC movers who work on machine tools: machining centres, lathes, grinders, EDMs and press brakes.

  • Methods picked to move your machines safely and efficiently, matched to the floor and the route.
  • Permits handled with the City of Mississauga, the Region of Peel and the MTO.
  • Quote replies within 2–4 business hours.

A good fit: machine shops, toolrooms, aerospace and automotive parts makers, and machine tool dealers who need a new machine delivered and set in place.

Not a fit: CNC machining or cutting work, machine repair or calibration, crane or forklift rental, and household or office moves.

Let Us Handle Your CNC Machine Moving Needs in Mississauga

Every CNC machine move is priced per job, after we see the details or the site.

CNC Machine Moving Cost: What Affects the Price

  • The machine: weight, height and centre of gravity; a large horizontal takes more rigging than a compact VMC
  • Access at both ends: doors, docks, ramps and floor load limits
  • Prep on your side: whether coolant, chips and tooling are out when we arrive
  • Method: skates and toe jacks, a gantry, jack-and-roll, or a crane lift when the site needs one (crane time is included in your quote)
  • Distance and permits: route length, permits and escorts for an oversize load
  • Timing and extras: weekend work, crating and storage

Payment is in Canadian dollars (CAD), cash or cashless. Contact us today to plan your next CNC machine move.

Service Area: Mississauga, Peel Region and the West GTA

Our Mississauga CNC movers cover every employment area in the city, from the Northeast area by Pearson airport and Gateway to Meadowvale, Sheridan Park, Southdown and Dixie, as named in the City’s Official Plan.

Manufacturing employs more people than any other sector in Mississauga: over 70,000 in 2024, with more than half of those jobs in Ward 5, according to the City’s 2024 Employment Survey. The same survey found that 84% of businesses had fewer than 20 employees, so a one-machine move from a small shop gets the same planning as a plant move.

Beyond the city line we serve Brampton, Caledon, Etobicoke and Toronto, Oakville, Milton and Burlington. See CNC machine movers in Brampton, CNC machine movers in Toronto and CNC machine movers in Milton, or our machinery movers across Ontario.

CNC Machine Moving in Mississauga: FAQ

How much does it cost to move a CNC machine?

It depends on the machine and both sites: weight and height, access at each end, the lifting method, distance, oversize permits and timing. A compact VMC moved within Mississauga costs far less than a large horizontal that needs a crane lift. For a rough range, try our Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator.

What are the risks involved in moving a CNC machine?

The main risks are tipping a top-heavy machine, damaging the ways, ballscrews or spindle when the axes are not locked, overloading a floor or dock plate, and a control that will not restart. We reduce them with a site check, axis and spindle locks, proper lifting points, trailer tie-downs and an OEM start-up at the new site.

What are the benefits of hiring a professional CNC machine mover?

One crew plans, rigs, hauls and sets the machine, so you deal with one schedule and one contact. A professional CNC machine mover also brings toe jacks, skates and gantries sized for machine tools, arranges oversize permits, and leaves the machine level and ready for your licensed electricians and the OEM, which keeps downtime short.

How do you move a CNC machine?

We collect the specs and look at both sites. Your team or the OEM backs up the programs and parameters and drains the coolant, and your licensed electricians disconnect the power. We lock the axes, secure the spindle, jack the base onto skates or a gantry, then load, haul, set and level the machine for the OEM start-up.

Do I need a permit to move a CNC machine in Mississauga?

Only for a load over the Highway Traffic Act size or weight limits. City roads then need a City of Mississauga excess load permit, at least 5 business days ahead, or 14 for a superload. Region of Peel roads such as Dixie, Derry and Mavis need a Peel permit applied for 10 business days ahead, and Highways 401, 403 and 410 need an MTO permit.

Can you move CNC machines from a shop near Pearson to a new unit in Meadowvale or Brampton?

Yes. We plan moves between Mississauga employment areas, such as the Northeast area by Pearson airport, Gateway and Meadowvale, and across the city line into Brampton or Etobicoke. We check both docks and floors, pick a legal route for the trailer, and phase a shop move so your busiest machines run first at the new unit.

Which areas around Mississauga do you cover?

All of Mississauga, including Malton, Meadowvale, Streetsville, Port Credit and Clarkson, plus Brampton and Caledon in Peel, Oakville, Milton, Burlington and Georgetown in Halton, and Etobicoke and the rest of Toronto. For moves further out, see our CNC machine movers in Toronto page, or send us any Ontario address.

Who backs up the CNC control and who restarts the machine after the move?

Your team or the OEM backs up the programs and parameters and drains the coolant before we arrive. Your licensed electricians disconnect and reconnect the power, as Ontario requires a Licensed Electrical Contractor for electrical work done for hire (O. Reg. 570/05). We lock the axes and secure the spindle for the move, and the OEM technician recommissions the machine.

Do you offer CNC machining or machine repair?

No. Rigging-Busters is a machinery moving company: we move CNC machines, but we do not cut parts, repair or calibrate machines, or rent out cranes and forklifts. If your CNC machine shop in Mississauga needs a machine moved, delivered or installed, we can help; for repairs, call the machine’s dealer or OEM.
