Rigging-Busters Barrie is an industrial moving company and a team of rigging contractors for plants in Barrie, Innisfil, Springwater and the rest of Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. We take on machine relocations, specialty rigging services, heavy equipment transport and machinery installation for manufacturers along the Highway 400 corridor. A machine that has to leave the building usually starts with our machinery movers in Barrie; a lift, skid or re-layout inside the same plant goes to our industrial rigging services in Barrie.
- Industrial clients only: machines, production lines and plant equipment, never house, apartment or office contents.
- One crew, rig-out to set-in-place: rigging, loading, transport, placement, levelling and millwright installation.

Simcoe County Industries We Move Equipment For
Honda’s Alliston facility builds gas and hybrid versions of the Civic and CR-V. In May 2026 Honda suspended its planned 15-billion-dollar EV complex there indefinitely, and said production at the existing facility is not affected. When parts makers in the area retool for a model change, we move their presses, welding and robot cells, conveyors and machine tools, usually inside a shutdown or a long weekend.

Several of the area’s employment lands sit along Highway 400. Ontario has set aside the Innisfil Heights employment area for manufacturing, warehousing, assembly and processing on large lots. In Springwater, the Bertram Industrial Park is on County Road 27, ten minutes north of the city, the Snow Valley industrial lands are at Midhurst, and the Hillsdale business parks sit off Highway 400. In Barrie itself, Zoning By-law 2026-076 became final in September 2026 to draw defence, security, aerospace and advanced manufacturing firms. We also take jobs for plastics moulders, packaging and food plants, metal fabricators and machine shops, and for hospital and college labs with heavy equipment to move.

Areas We Cover from Barrie
From Barrie we take jobs across Simcoe County: Innisfil and the Innisfil Heights lands, Springwater (Midhurst, Hillsdale and Elmvale), Essa (Angus), New Tecumseth (Alliston), Bradford West Gwillimbury, Oro-Medonte, Orillia, Collingwood and Midland. Highway 400 ties it all to the GTA; for work there, see our rigging company in Toronto and our industrial moving services in Brampton. The Bradford Bypass, now under construction, will add a 16.3 km four-lane link from Highway 400 to Highway 404, to be numbered Highway 425. For longer hauls, see our machinery movers across Ontario.
Oversize Loads on Barrie and Simcoe County Roads
Most machines travel within normal Highway Traffic Act limits. When a load is oversize, up to three road authorities are involved, and we arrange each permit and plan the move around its travel windows:
- City of Barrie streets: the City of Barrie oversize load permit is requested through the APLI portal and issued only after the City and Barrie Police Service have both signed it. Clearance heights are checked on site 48 hours before the move, and the permit is not valid on weekdays from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m. or 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., or from half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise.
- County roads: a County of Simcoe oversized load permit is needed for a load wider than 2.6 m, higher than 4.15 m or longer than the County limits (12.5 m for a single vehicle, 14.65 m for a semi-trailer, 23.0 m for a combination). The County needs at least 5 business days to issue it, and a single-trip permit is valid for 3 consecutive days.
- Provincial highways: Highway 400, and Highways 11 and 26 where they leave it at Barrie, need an MTO oversize/overweight permit, requested at least 5 business days ahead.
- Spring load restrictions: from March 1 to April 30, load-restricted City and County roads allow no more than 5 tonnes per axle.
Have These Ready for a Barrie Quote
Six details let us price a Barrie job without guesswork. Put them in your quote request, or try the Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator first for a rough range:
- The job: one machine, a cell or line, or a whole plant leaving Barrie, Innisfil or another Simcoe County site
- Machine data: make, model, weight and footprint from the nameplate or the OEM drawing
- Both sites: addresses, dock or drive-in doors, ceiling height, floor condition and any stairs or ramps
- Dates: your shutdown or changeover window, and whether the move falls in the March 1 to April 30 load-restriction season
- Who does what: disconnects and reconnects by your licensed electricians, OEM start-up, and any crating, storage or millwright work you want from us
- Photos: the machine, its anchors and the route from its spot to the truck

Barrie Industrial Moving and Rigging: FAQ
When you compare industrial moving companies or large equipment movers, ask each one for a single quote that covers rigging, transport, set-in-place and levelling. Check how they will lift the machine (skates, a gantry, jack-and-roll or a crane), who applies for the City, County and MTO permits, and who disconnects power. Then confirm they handle industrial equipment only, not household goods.
It depends on where the machine ends up. If it leaves the building, our machinery movers in Barrie plan the whole move. If it only changes position inside your plant, industrial rigging services in Barrie cover the lift and skid without any trucking. A full line or building is factory and plant relocation in Barrie. One quote request reaches all three.
If the load stays within normal size and weight limits, no permit is needed and only our schedule matters. An oversize load takes longer: the County of Simcoe needs at least 5 business days, an MTO permit for Highway 400 needs 5 business days, and a City of Barrie permit needs City and police signatures. Allow two to three weeks, and avoid March and April for heavy axle loads.
Yes. We rig out each machine in the GTA building, truck it north on Highway 400 with the MTO permit any oversize piece needs, then set it in place, level it and anchor it at the new Barrie or Innisfil site. If the new building is late, machines can wait in storage. See factory and plant relocation in Barrie for how line moves are sequenced.
Yes. Honda’s Alliston facility builds the Civic and CR-V, and the parts makers that supply plants like it run presses, welding cells, conveyors and machine tools that move whenever a line changes. We rig out and move that equipment during shutdowns or weekends, set it level on its new footprint, and leave reconnection to your licensed electricians.
Yes. Barrie’s Zoning By-law 2026-076 became final in September 2026 to attract defence, security, aerospace and advanced manufacturing firms. A new plant like that needs machine tools, test stands and assembly fixtures unloaded, rigged in, set in place, levelled and anchored. We plan that work with your equipment suppliers and leave power connections to your licensed electricians.
Yes. After a move, or when a dealer delivers a new machine, our millwrights set it on its footprint, level and align it, and anchor it so it is ready for hook-up. That machinery installation work is described on our millwright services and machinery installation page for Toronto and the GTA, and Barrie and Simcoe County jobs are run the same way.
No. We do not repair or rent out forklifts, we do not rent out cranes, and we do not move houses, apartments or offices. We move industrial machinery and plant equipment only. Skates, gantries and forklifts are used inside our own jobs, and when a lift needs a crane, our small crane or a licensed partner crane is booked into the move.
