Rigging-Busters is a rigging company for factories, fabricators and processors in Barrie and across Simcoe County. We provide industrial rigging services for machines that are too heavy, tall or awkward for a plant’s own forklifts: CNC machining centres, presses, moulding and packaging equipment, transformers and complete production lines, from a move across the shop to a new building along Highway 400.
Our riggers lift, skid, load and set the equipment, and the same crew can haul it and level it at the new site. Need machine riggers for one lift, or rigging contractors for a line move? Tell us what is moving and where; the estimate is free.
- Industrial only: plant machinery and heavy equipment, never furniture or household goods.
- Rigging to set-in-place: one crew lifts, skids, loads, transports, levels and installs.
- Quote turnaround: 2–4 business hours after we receive the machine details.
- Coverage: Barrie, Simcoe County and the Highway 400 corridor down to York Region. See the Barrie service area.
For a ballpark first, the Heavy Lifting & Moving Calculator returns a rough price range in a minute or two.

How We Rig and Lift Machinery in Barrie
Every job starts from the machine’s weight, its centre of gravity and the path it has to travel, and works back from there to the method. On a typical Barrie job the sequence looks like this:

- Survey. Photos, drawings or a walk-through of both buildings, noting door sizes, ceiling height, floor loading and anything in the way.
- Lift plan. The method, the gear and the crew size, with picking points marked. A licensed crane partner is booked only if no floor-based method can do the lift.
- Shutdown prep by your team. Lockout, fluids drained, your licensed electricians disconnect power, and loose parts and tooling come off or get secured.
- Lift and skid. The machine is raised with jacks or a gantry, set on skates and rolled out along the planned path.
- Load and secure. It goes onto the trailer by forklift, gantry or ramp and is chained and blocked for the trip.
- Permits and timing. City of Barrie, County of Simcoe or MTO permits are in hand, and the move is timed around the City’s rush-hour and night limits.
- Set and level. The machine is placed on its pads, levelled and anchored, ready for your electricians and service technician.
Machine Lifting Without a Crane
Inside a plant, heavy machine lifting is usually done from the floor rather than from a hook. Our machine riggers bring specialized rigging equipment sized to the load:
- Hydraulic gantries that lift where there is no overhead crane
- Toe jacks and climbing jacks to raise a machine off its feet
- Machinery skates and rollers to move it across the floor
- Jack-and-roll for low headroom and long machine bases
- Forklifts and lift trucks for loading, unloading and yard moves
- Slings, shackles and spreader bars rated for the load
- Steel cribbing for staged lifts and safe blocking

Rigging Only or a Full Move
Rigging only: a local rigging service for work inside your building, such as moving a machine to a new bay, lifting a unit onto a mezzanine or raising equipment to slide skids underneath. You arrange any trucking.
Full move: the same riggers load, haul and set the machine at the new site, whether that is down the road in Barrie, up to Orillia or into the GTA. For complete relocations see machinery movers in Barrie, and for a whole building, factory and plant relocation in Barrie.

Oversize Permits in Barrie and Simcoe County
Barrie’s permit rules shape the timing of a move as much as the route. If the truck and load are oversize, plan for these:
- City of Barrie streets: a single or annual oversize load permit, applied for through the City’s APLI portal and issued only once every required signature is in. Clearance heights along the route are checked on site 48 hours before the move.
- When loads can move: a City permit is not valid Monday to Friday from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., or from half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise.
- County of Simcoe roads: a County oversized load permit when the load is wider than 2.6 m, higher than 4.15 m, longer than 12.5 m (14.65 m for a semi-trailer, 23 m for a combination) or over the legal weight. Allow at least 5 business days; a single permit is valid for 3 consecutive days.
- Highway 400 and other provincial highways: an MTO oversize permit, applied for at least 5 business days before the trip.
From March 1 to April 30, both the City and the County limit their load-restricted roads to 5 tonnes per axle, so a heavy spring move needs a route that avoids them or a date after April.

Millwright Set-in-Place and Levelling
Our millwrights finish the job at the new location: the machine goes down on its levelling pads, is brought to the level and alignment the manufacturer specifies, and is anchored where needed, with guards and covers refitted. Your licensed electricians reconnect power, as Ontario requires for electrical work done by contractors (O. Reg. 570/05), and your service technician or the OEM handles start-up.

Equipment Riggers for Simcoe County Industry
Much of Simcoe County’s industry sits within reach of Highway 400, from Honda’s two vehicle plants in Alliston to the business parks north and south of Barrie. Our equipment riggers provide specialty rigging services for the machinery those plants run on:
- CNC machining centres, lathes and grinders (see CNC machine movers in Barrie)
- Stamping presses, press brakes and metal-forming equipment
- Injection moulding and extrusion machines
- Packaging, filling and food processing lines
- Printing and converting presses (see printing press movers in Barrie)
- Transformers, switchgear and generators (see transformer moving in Barrie)
- Test rigs and production equipment for defence and aerospace suppliers
Industries We Serve Around Barrie
Honda’s two plants in Alliston build the CR-V and Civic and employ about 4,200 people, and parts suppliers across the region feed them. In Innisfil, the Innisfil Heights employment area on Highway 400 is set aside for manufacturing, warehousing, assembly and processing on large lots. Springwater’s Bertram Industrial Park sits on County Road 27, ten minutes north of Barrie, and in September 2026 the City of Barrie’s new zoning cleared the way to attract defence, security, aerospace and advanced manufacturing firms.

Rigging Presses, CNC Machines and Production Lines
CNC machines travel with their axes locked and the spindle secured, after your team or the OEM backs up the parameters and drains the coolant. Presses are checked for height and weight against the door and the trailer, and go whole or in sections. Production lines are photographed, labelled and moved in rebuild order, so the installer can put each section back to the layout.

Crane Lifts Through Licensed Partners
Some jobs do need a crane: a rooftop unit, a load lifted over a wall, or a machine set into a pit from outside. For those, we plan the rigging and our licensed crane partner supplies the crane and its qualified operator, and the crane time is included in your quote. We do not rent out cranes, and inside a plant, gantries and jacks usually do the job instead.
Rigging Services Cost in Barrie: What Affects the Price
There is no flat rate for rigging; the price follows the job, and the estimate is free. The main drivers:
- Machine weight, dimensions and centre of gravity
- How hard it is to get out and in: door widths, headroom, floor strength, stairs or mezzanines
- The lifting method, and whether a partner crane is needed (crane time is included in your quote)
- Distance, plus City, County or MTO permits and any escort
- Timing around Barrie’s permit hours and the March to April load restrictions
- Dismantling, crating, storage between sites, levelling and anchoring

Why Barrie-Area Plants Choose Our Rigging Company
Heavy-duty, professional rigging and machinery moving, done by one accountable crew. When Barrie plants compare rigging companies, these are the points that matter:
- Floor-based lifting first: gantries, jacks and skates handle the lift where they can, with a partner crane only when the job cannot be done from the floor.
- No hand-offs: the riggers who lift the machine also load it, haul it and set it.
- Permits sorted: City of Barrie, County of Simcoe and MTO permits applied for, escorts booked where required, and moves timed to the City’s permit hours.
- Spring planning: routes and dates checked against the March 1 to April 30 load restrictions.
- Quick, written quotes: within 2–4 business hours once we have the details, and estimates are free.
- Insured: liability and workers’ compensation insurance (WSIB in Ontario), with a certificate of insurance on request.
A good fit: CNC machines, presses, moulding and packaging equipment, transformers, test and production rigs; single machine lifting, in-plant moves, plant relocations and storage between sites.
Not a fit: crane services or crane rental on their own; rigging supply, a rigging shop or rental of lifting and rigging equipment; overhead crane inspection and repair; equipment or tool rental; sailboat and mast rigging; household moves.
Before You Call: What We Need for a Quote
Send these with your quote request and the price comes back faster:
- What is moving: make, model, weight and size of each machine.

Rigging Company in Barrie: FAQ
Industrial rigging is the work of lifting, moving and placing heavy plant equipment safely: rating the load, picking the lifting points and choosing gantries, jacks, skates, slings or a crane. Around Barrie it often means moving CNC machines, presses and production lines for Simcoe County manufacturers, sometimes inside a plant that keeps running around the job.
A rigging company plans and carries out heavy lifts and moves: it surveys the machine and the building, chooses the lifting method, raises and skids the load, and sets it in its new position. Ours also loads and hauls machinery and handles millwright set-in-place, so a Barrie plant deals with one crew instead of separate riggers, haulers and installers.
The price depends on the machine’s weight and size, access at both sites, the lifting method, distance, permits and any set-in-place work. Spring load restrictions and the City’s permit hours can also affect the plan. Partner crane time, when needed, is included in your quote. For a quick range, try our Heavy Lifting and Moving Calculator.
Under a City of Barrie oversize load permit, not on weekdays from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m. or 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., and not from half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise. Clearance heights are checked on site 48 hours before the move, and from March 1 to April 30 load-restricted roads are limited to 5 tonnes per axle.
We do not rent cranes. Inside a plant, machine lifting is usually done with gantries, jacks and skates. When a lift does need a crane, such as a rooftop unit or a load set over a wall, we plan the rigging and a licensed crane partner provides the crane and operator, with that time included in your quote.
Yes. We cover all of Simcoe County, including the Innisfil Heights employment area on Highway 400, Alliston and the rest of New Tecumseth, and Springwater’s Bertram Industrial Park and Midhurst. Send both addresses with your quote request, and we check whether the route uses City, County or provincial roads and which permits apply.
Heavy rigging covers loads that ordinary forklifts and hoists cannot handle safely, such as large presses, transformers, moulding machines or long machine bases. It relies on hydraulic gantries, jack-and-roll, steel cribbing and spreader bars, with a partner crane for some outdoor lifts, and every step is planned around the load’s weight and centre of gravity.
Rigging is everything that prepares a load to move: choosing and attaching the slings, shackles, beams or skates and checking the balance. Lifting is the actual raise or lower, done with a gantry, jacks, a forklift or a crane. A safe machine move needs both planned together, which is why our riggers handle the rigging and the lifting as one job.
No. We are not a rigging shop or a rental yard, so we do not sell slings or hardware or rent out lifting and rigging equipment. Our riggers bring their own gear and do the lift or move for you. If you only need equipment, a local supply or rental store is the right call; if you need the job done, send us the details.
Yes. Our crew can come in to lift, skid and reposition machines, take a line apart, or unload a delivery and set it in place, while you handle any trucking. If transport is needed later, the same riggers can load and haul it. For complete moves, see machinery movers in Barrie.
