Looking for an industrial rigging company in Montreal? At Rigging-Busters, our riggers lift, skid, jack, load and place heavy equipment inside plants, labs and utility rooms across the island, Laval and the South and North Shores.
Rigging is the part of a move where the weight is in the air or on rollers: getting a press off the floor, a transformer through a narrow door or a machining centre onto a trailer. We choose the method, size the gear to the load and plan the job from the first lift to final placement.
- Industrial rigging only: machines, transformers, switchgear, tanks and production equipment, no household or office items.
- Method sized to the load: skates, jacks and cribbing, hydraulic gantry, heavy forklift, or a partner crane for outside lifts.
- Minimum project: 3,500 CAD. Your written quote lists the method, what is included and the price.
- Quick replies: quotes usually within 2–4 working hours; the estimate is free.

Rigging Methods We Use in Montreal Plants
The right method depends on weight, centre of gravity, headroom, floor capacity and the path to the door:
- Machine skates and rollers to roll a load across the plant floor once it is jacked up.
- Hydraulic jacks and cribbing to raise a machine evenly, a few centimetres at a time, without a lift point overhead.
- Hydraulic gantry for heavy lifts inside a building where a crane cannot reach.
- Heavy forklifts with fork extensions or a boom for loading and short carries.
- Mobile crane from a specialist partner for rooftop units or loads lifted over a wall, planned as part of the rigging job.
Rigging Inside a Running Plant
Most rigging happens next to working lines. We agree the work zone, floor protection and timing with your maintenance team, and we can work evenings or weekends so production loses as little time as possible. Before anything moves, the crew checks the route for floor capacity, trenches, overhead obstacles and door widths.

Send the weight, dimensions and a few photos of the load: quotes usually come back within 2–4 working hours.
or give a call +1–438-239-1237
Transformers, Switchgear and Generators
We rig and move transformers, switchgear, generators and electrical cabinets. The work covers jacking and skidding to the exit, loading on a trailer, transport with the permits the load needs, and placement on the new pad or in the new room. Your electrical contractor, licensed by the CMEQ, handles disconnection, reconnection and testing.
Send the nameplate (weight and dimensions), the lifting points shown on the drawings and photos of the access path. French-language page: déménagement de transformateurs électriques à Montréal.

Cranes, Street Permits and Oversize Loads in Montreal
When a crane or a truck has to stand on a Montreal street, the borough issues a temporary occupation permit (French) in 2–10 business days. Loads that leave the site beyond legal size or weight need an MTMD special permit. In Montreal, a borough permit is also needed over 2.6 m wide or 4.15 m high. The same goes for loads over 50 t that need a class 6 or 7 permit. The details and lead times are on our machinery moving page. Permits, escorts and street time are planned before the job date.
Rigging vs Installation: Who Does What in Quebec
Our riggers lift, move and place the equipment. Anchoring, levelling, alignment and connections are installation work. In Quebec, they are done by contractors with the required licences (RBQ, CMEQ, CMMTQ) and by CCQ-qualified workers where the law requires it. We coordinate the hand-off so the machine is set where your installer needs it.

What Industrial Rigging Costs in Montreal
Rigging is priced per job. What moves the price:
- Weight and shape: heavy, tall or top-heavy loads need more gear and more crew
- The path: distance to the door, floor capacity, ramps, stairs and tight turns
- Lifting equipment: skates and jacks, gantry, heavy forklift or a partner crane
- Site rules and timing: safety requirements, night or weekend work, production windows
- Transport: whether the load leaves the site, and the permits it needs
The minimum project is 3,500 CAD. See our pricing page for how quotes are built.
What We Need for a Rigging Quote
Send these with your quote request:

- Photos of the equipment and the full path to the door or truck
- Headroom and floor: clear height on the route and floor capacity
- Dates: shutdown window or delivery deadline
- Site requirements: the documents and safety orientation your site requires

Industrial Rigging in Montreal: FAQ
Riggers lift, skid, jack and place heavy equipment safely: getting a machine off the floor, moving it through the building, loading it and setting it at the new spot. The method (skates, jacks, gantry, heavy forklift or crane) is chosen for each load.
It depends on the weight and shape of the load, the path to the door, the lifting equipment, site rules and timing, and whether the load leaves the site. The minimum project is 3,500 CAD. Send photos and the equipment details for a quote, usually within 2–4 working hours.
Yes. We rig, skid, load, transport and place transformers, switchgear and generators. Your CMEQ-licensed electrical contractor handles disconnection, reconnection and testing.
When a job needs one, a mobile crane from a specialist partner is planned as part of the rigging job. We don’t rent cranes or forklifts on their own.
Yes. A crane or truck standing on the street needs a temporary occupation permit from the borough, issued in 2–10 business days. Oversize loads leaving the site also need MTMD and borough permits.
Anchoring, levelling, alignment and connections are installation work, done by contractors holding the required licences (RBQ, CMEQ, CMMTQ) and by CCQ-qualified workers where the law requires it. We place the machine where your installer needs it.
Yes. We agree the work zone and timing with your maintenance team and can work evenings or weekends to keep downtime short.
The weight and dimensions of the load, and the centre of gravity if known. Add drawings or nameplates with lifting points, photos of the equipment and the route, clear height and floor capacity, your dates and any site requirements.
Yes: Laval, Longueuil, Boucherville, Varennes, Saint-Hubert, Mirabel, Blainville, Saint-Jérôme and Terrebonne, as well as the island of Montreal.
Check the RBQ licence for construction work and ask the CNESST for the contractor’s attestation de conformité at the end of the contract; it clears you of the contractor’s unpaid premiums.
